Changing Grades in Breeze
As the school year comes to a close kindergartners will soon be 1st graders, 8th graders are beginning to consider themselves to be freshman, and graduation caps are flying for those wrapping up their high school years.
If your church has joined Breeze over the past school year, you might have questions on what you'll need to do to ensure your grades are up-to-date in Breeze.
The short answer is: nothing at all.
Breeze automatically increments grades up by one each school year. By default this is on June 15 but you're able to adjust this within your Account Settings.
(For those of you who like to know the inner-workings: technically speaking, Breeze simply stores a person's anticipated high school graduation date and calculates the actual grade label off of that on-the-fly. The date above tells Breeze when to switch to the next grade label.)
Updating Classrooms
For churches who keep track of specific classrooms by tag, after the graduation date you'll be able to update your tags accordingly (tags do not automatically update as the tag names assigned intetionally do not connect directly to grades).
For example, let's say you had a tag labeled "K - 3rd". Everyone from Kindergarten through 3rd grade should be in this tag.
Assuming your data was correct before, after the graduation date passes the people in this tag will actually be 1st - 4th grade. To remove the 4th graders and add in the new Kindergartner's then:
Using this tool you should be able to bring all of your classrooms up-to-date for the new school year in a matter of minutes.
We hope this allows you to fly through the tasks of getting your data ready for the coming school year and gives you a chance to enjoy the sun this summer!
We'd love to show you what we built!
